Deer Mother

Since moving too Cahersiveen a little town in south west Kerry that is named after Sadhbh. , Mother of Oisin, I have been brought on a deep inner journey with the energy of Deer mother. In Irish Mythology it was said that a Druid placed a spell on Sadhbh turning her into a Deer & as Deer she birthed Oisin (meaning little Deer), and perhaps thats how the story went,  but for me these stories are layered with many meanings and hidden messages. Codes that will help us birth this New Earth.

This story of Sadhbh to me shows the connection we as women have to the Deer, a nod to the lineage of the Deer Priestesses & the Antlered Goddess that have been present for millenia on these lands. Throughout many indigenous cultures the Deer Mother has been revered and in Ireland, Scotland & the UK stories of Ellen of the ways, Sadhbh and women who could turn themselves into deer-or the deer changed into women is not only present in the stories & folklore but deeply embedded into the land itself.

The Deer to Irish people is apart of our soul and of the land.  We are ‘The people of the Deer ‘ which is in fact what the old Gaelic kingdom of Ossary means  (present day Kilkenny & Laois).

The Deer Mother represents many things but for me the most present is how she is our ally and support for Motherhood,  as we re-mother ourselves in preparation to consciously conceive, birth & raise & mother the children of light & in preparation to birth a whole new way of being in the world.

For it is through the Divine feminine that the new way will come forth. And the Deer tribe & the Deer Mothers walk along side us.  For they have the consciousness that is needed to bring forth Eruis dream and vision for this sacred time.

In the words of Holly Elizabeth Hamilton;  Deer Mothers, it is time to grow your horns and hooves again, so you can listen to the heavens above and the earth below, and guide us all into the new Golden Age!
